Alpaca rug yarn is made from the "less desirable" fiber from our herd. This is sometimes ALL the fiber from the alpaca or just the leg and belly fiber. It is spun around a cotton core product or string. This yarn is used in our hand woven rugs and will felt slightly if you wet it and give some agitation. It also takes dye very well and will create a yarn with various hues of the color(s) dyed depending on the size of the pot and how well the yarn is moved through the dye or not.
